Finding the aircraft based on satellite images and analysis took more time than expected


This is second article in this blog about missing commercial jet MH370. All of the important and essential information will be compiled started from March 22, 2014. The plane remained missing with the help of international effort for more than 2 weeks. Developed countries France, Australia and US are eager to find out the mystery behind the missing commercial jet boeing 777. A huge airplane carrying 200+  passengers with cargo went missing on radar on Saturday, March 8, 2014.



March 22(Day 15)

Telegraph news reported and published on their website that they have the detailed transcript last 54 minutes of communication from MH370. The last word were recorded on 1.19AM (Malaysian time) "All right, Good night". Full information at Telegraph UK

Australia, China and British naval ships have already streaming the search area after China contacted Malaysian authority they have found a possible debris based on satellite imagery taken on March 18. 

Six planes, four Orion anti-submarine aircraft packed with state-of-the-art surveillance equipment, scoured the area for a third day without success. 

Malaysia authority said the transcript of the missing airplane with traffic controller tower were kept safeguarded and could not publicly address. He implied the Telegraph's finding of transcript MH370 could be not accurate.  

CNN reported quoting environmentalist M. Sanjayan the difficulty to find airplane debris is high as there are many garbage discarded to the sea daily.

2. China found debris floating at the sea taken from satellite imagery on March 18. The location was given as just 120 kilometers distant from where March 16 satellite images.

March 23 (Day 16)

French satellite spots possible MH370 debris in search area. Malaysian SAR team received new satellite images from French side the third satellite images after Australia and China. Malaysia transport said that all relevant information had been forwarded to Australia as they are leading the search at southern corridor.

Australian officers said today that a wooden cargo pallet along with belts or straps have been spotted in the remote Indian Ocean by one of the aircraft

Sunday today, four military and four civilian aircraft had been deployed to search the area in southern corridor.

Strong warning by weather department tropical cyclone Gillian could hampered operation in southern Indian Ocean. It is currently at near Christmas Island 1,000 miles southwest of Australia.

The depth of the Indian Ocean between 3000- 5000 meters as if location is confirmed search blackbox mission to be carried out.

3. Australian authority and oceanographic experts believed that two objecteds spotted may have drifted 500 kilometers from original point due to date different both satellite imagery taken from March 16 and 18. The current weather in Christmas island have affected the SAR effort.



March 24 (Day 17)

On precise 10PM(Malaysian time), Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak made Press conference. He said the plane is confirmed fell into Indian Ocean based on IMMARSAT satellite date. 

CEO of Malaysian Airlines said there were 200 kilogramme lithium battery, mangoteen and several radio equipments inside the cargo of airplane MH370

US navy deployed "black box" locator at southern corridor after sighting possibly debris of MH370 provided by 3 countries's satellite images It is a precautionary measures in case those sightings confirm the location of debris.

Official press conference at Malaysia said 18,500 square nautical miles searched in the Australian search area. Two orange objects approximately 2 meters and one white colored drum were sighted by
search aircraft. However, it is remain unidentified.

HMAS Success captained by Allison Norris steering the ship through world's most hostile area. It is the only ship in vicinity on search area. China ships will be reached there on March 25.

French's satellite imagery on possible debris sent to Malaysia on March 22 and it sent to Rescue Cordination center Australia on March 23.

Meanwhile in northern corridor, Turkmenistan have confirmed they have not had any sightings of MH370 on their radar.

Japanese and China aircraft are due to reach to Perth. Japanese has sent two P3-Orion to aid the SAR mission.

March 25 (Day 18)


The Commercial jet boeing 777 MH370 confirmed crash at remote area at southern corridor. Prime minister of Malaysia announced yesterday night around 10PM.

Official press conference at Malaysia's PWTC . When asked by reporters to Transport Minister of Malaysia Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein whether they will still search for the plane, He replied, "we will still search the plane". 

UK Air accidents Investigation Branch and Inmarsat new analysis show that strong possibility the plane drop to Indian Ocean. The study of handshakes yield the result. The analysis called " The Doppler effect"

Victim families largely disagreed the news due to lack of evidence to support the data analysis. They still bear the hope safety of the passengers.

Northern Corridor search & rescue mission has been called off same goes to near Indonesia. 


Chinese held a protest to Malaysia embassy at China. Holding banners " Malaysian government murderers", "We want our relatives back". They protest location near Lido Hotel at Beijing.

March 26 (Day 19)

 Families of passenger is provided with the press release issued by UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch.

Weather improved since yesterday the operation was halted yesterday due to weather uncertainties on the sea. Chinese ships and Korean planes joining the hunt for MH370 at vast sea. Accounted for 12 planes will be flying today to the search and rescue location.

Malaysian ambassador to China Iskandar Sarudin arrived to meet with the crisis and angry families.

Satellite imagery provided by France which is captured during March 23 showing 122 objects floating at Indian Ocean, about 2557KM from Perth.

2. Malaysia authority believes that the plane was deliberately diverted by someone on board.





March 27 (Day 20) (Updating)


Thailand has detected nearly 300 floating objects in the Indian Ocean, about 200 kilometers from the international search area for missing Malaysia Airlines MH370.

FBI Chief James Corney said the investigation on simulator owned by pilot recovery of deleted files is in process. They are working on it. FBI will soon complete it analysis.

12 Countries step forward to help seeking MH370

14 Countries joining hand-to-hand with their combined assets estimating 34 Aircraft and 40 ships for MH370 search and rescue mission 


The reason 12 countries instead of 14 countries because there were Brunei and Japan involvement. However, Japan only deployed manpower there were no assets. Brunei is deploying vessel patrol to their sea instead of aircraft.

Malaysian government mobilized its civil aviation department, air force, navy and maritime enforcement agency. The first country to act in this mission surely was Malaysian government. There would be alot of question ! What kind of assets they have been deployed to the sea finding debris?

Which country assets stand out among the search and rescue? What kind of technologies they have utilized to enhance and facilitate the process of search and rescue mission ?

Countries that has deployed assets and help in Search and Rescue mission MH370 . There are Malaysia, China, Singapore, Brunei, Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand, Philippine, Taiwan, Thailand, United States and Vietnam. Overall totaled 14 countries. 

The best assets deployed by so many countries. There are Lockheed Hercules, Singapore's Formidable frigate, China satellite, India and America's P8 Poseidon aircraft. Frigates sent by various country are equally important. Highly advanced Destroyer class vessels from U.S. 

March 19, 2014(updated) - As the search expanded and targeting Indian Ocean after closing of South China Sea search, the new area of searching MH370 Malaysia Airline is huge and massive. Malaysia is requesting help from many countries. A total of 26 countries will be involved in SAR mission. There will be another country deploying assets to aid this mission. It would be Republic of Korea, Japan United Arab Emirates.

Malaysian government : CN235, Beechcraft Super King Air M200, LockHeed Hercules, Bombardier Global Express, AW109, Eurocopter EC725, 

Australia government : Lockheed AP-3C Orion, 3 RAAF  P3 Orions, 1 long range commercial jet

Brunei : Patrol Vessel

China : Kunlun Shan, Type 071 amphibious transport dock, Jinggang Shan, Type 052C destroyer. Besides, they have deployed professional diver, medical personnel and underwater detection equipment. There is a news saying that China tasked ten orbiting defense satellite over the area.


India : Four warships and 6 aircrafts including 3 helicopters. INS Saryu, INS Kessari and INS Kumbhir, Dornier Do 228, Lockheed Martin C130 Super Hercules, Mil Mi 17, Boeing P8 Poseidon, Tupolev TU142, Rukmini. 


Indonesia : PC 40 fast patrol vessels, IPTN NC 212 maritime patrol aircraft

Japan : A disaster relief team formed by ministry of foreign affairs, ministry of defense, coast guard and international cooperation agency. 

New Zealand : Air Force Lockheed P-3K2 Orion

Philippine : BRP Gregorio, BRP Emilio, BRP Apolinario, Fokker F27 Friendship, Britten Norman Defender.

Singapore : C130 Hercules, Formidable class frigate, Sikorsky Seahawk, Victory class corvett. Singapore deployed Submarine rescue ship with divers.

Taiwan : Airforce C130 Hercules,  ROCS Tian Dan frigate

Thailand : Westland Super Lynx helicopter and patrol vessels

United States : P-3C Orion and P-8A Poseidon, USS Kidd, USS Pinckney, Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopter. USNS John Ericsson and a team of national transportation safety board

Vietnam : Antonov An 26 , CASA C212 Aviocar, de Havilland  Canada, Mil Mi 17.

South Korean : 1 P-3 Orion aircraft, C130 Hercules

Japan : 2 P-3 Orion aircraft, 2 C130 Hercules, 1 Gulfstream Jet

Malaysia Assets



CN235 - A transport plane. Jointly developed by CASA of Spain and Indonesian manufacturer IPTN. Serve as a regional airliner and military transport. It primary role include maritime patrol, surveillance, and air transport. 



Beechcraft Model 200 - A plane highly designed for aerial surveying and reconnaissance. A very popular plane in US and France. Due to popularity, engineer continue developing Model 200 to a better plane. 




Lockheed C130 Hercules - Four engine turboprop military transport aircraft. For your information, Lockheed manufacture made the best aircraft in the world. C130 Hercules, It is one of the best aircraft. Capable of using unprepared runaways to takeoff and landing. It can used for airborne assault, search and rescue, scientific research support, weather reconnaissance, aerial fueling, maritime patrol, aerial fighting. IT has been deployed to save fire engulfed forests. It is now deployed by Malaysian air force to find MH370.





Bombardier Global Express - Large cabin, ultra long range business jet.





AgustaWestland AW109 - light-weight, twin engine, eigth-seats multipurpose helicopter. It is widely used to mission such as air ambulance and search and rescue. 



Eurocopter EC725 - Long range tactical transport helicopter or widely called as Super Cougar. The helicopter has been deployed for various mission including troop transport, casualty evacuation and combat search and rescue duties. It is unclear Malaysian deployed civilian type EC225 or military type EC725. Both of them are from same manufacturer.



Australia, US and New Zealand Assets



LockHeed AP-3C Orion - Naval fleet support, maritime surveillance, search and survivor supply, anti surface and anti submarine warfare. Currently Australia and US operators only. It has upgraded radar detection for intelligent gathering and computer system. 


USS Kidd - U.S deployed 3 large vessels. This image is a USS Kidd vessel. A destroyer class vessel. 



Taiwan, Singapore and China Assets 

Taiwan and Singapore both owned C130 Hercules and they had deployed for the mission. Besides, they also deployed at least one frigate.



Kunlun Shan - Two large vessels has been deployed for seek and rescue mission MH370.


Formidable class frigate - Singapore owned and unique vessel. A stealth vessel equipped with radar automatic search and tracking both air and surface targets. One of the key asset from Singapore



India, Vietnam and Philippine Assets

India is serious on this mission. They have sent their own made frigate and many more assets. India and Vietnam sent Mil Mi Hawk. Philippine too has their own frigate deployed for the mission.


INS Saryu - Largest offshore patrol vessel. INS Saryu is a warpship class. Besides, INS Saryu, there were 2 more large vessels deployed. 


Boeing P8 Poseidon - Deployed by India and U.S . India deployed Lockheed Hercules, Mil Mi 17 and Boeing P8 Poseidon . It is intended to conduct anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare and shipping interdiction. It is capable dropping torpedo and missile. It also frequently carrying duties to perform depth charges and sonobuoys.
