Halal and non-Halal, Noodle and Chicken your no 1 choice hangout at the heart of Kota Kinabalu

Brings Starbucks, KFC, McDonald's, Chicken Rice Shop and order a drink at here. I guess there were no restrictions imposed that you should order food there in order to occupy that area. It was crowded with local peoples on Sunday. A location you have higher chance overlooking the wide sea. 


One thing I have observed was the hardworking staffs cleaning the table so that the next customer could occupy the dining table. Without them, you will dine on a table with leftover food. It is not Sabahan culture throwing food leftover. Besides, there is no designated place where Sabahan could learn throw their own leftover food.


As if there were a designated place, they could throw away the food and returning the plate which is a good idea. However, it would take away the jobs. Besides, I would suggest putting the recycle dustbin increasing public awareness on protecting the planet since there were tourist we should set example but, it would jeopardize our culture ( Not all actually left their food on the tablet). Furthermore, outlets could use recycled plastic instead of solid plate or make a recycled plastic and put Suria Sabah Food Court logo or something.








Hangout and blend in local community. Suitable for all ages. There were pastry, noodle, malay cuisine, chinese cuisine, chicken rice, buffet and many more.







On Sunday, some of the food stalls were off on the non-halal section. Suria Sabah Food Coury operating hour is 10AM - 8PM.

Junk Food is a profitable business. A pack of 60g potato chips is selling at the price of RM3.20. I still remember few years back purchasing a pack of Mister potato in a same size as above image for RM1.50 but, as years has passed leaving memory the current price is inflated as much as double.


I do not know whether or not there were anything could decrease the price of junk food. I do know that 1 kilo of potato is equivalent to RM3.20 - RM4.00 in the year 2014 in Malaysia. One could purchase 1 kilo of potato RM3.30 at Giant supermarket.


Consumers were educated these categorized as junk food but anyways if they like it, they buy it to eat. It is a free market and free society and junk food means little nutritional value. Somehow, I am bit confused why Potato, I thought it one of the super food ??

Chocolate lovers you should know these chocolate drinks.

According to self-made research, 30g chocolate power could serve 350ml chocolate drink. A small pack of 350g chocolate power could serve up to 3850ML of chocolate drink. It will cost around RM10 for Cadbury chocolate powder. The cheapest one could be Vico.


Let say you have purchased Oligo 240ml only for RM2, you only get 1200ml. It is the same applies if you purchase F&N magnolia chocolate 890ML for RM6.00. For consumer wise, it is better for everyone to purchase chocolate powder rather than purchase canned chocolate drink.

The most advertised Maggi instant noodle flavor in Malaysia 2014

They get it what Malaysian like to eat. Penang curry flavor instant noodle grows like a mushroom in a rain. Maggi, one of the oldest, top and most recognized instant noodle brand in Malaysia introduced not-so-surprised "Penang Seafood Curry flavor"


Everything has a beginning they could have get the inspiration from Mykuali Penang White Curry noodle. It was not saying they copy it from them but Mykuali in my opnion could be one of the pioneer in this flavor. Reminiscing the desire to taste what it like Penang curry flavor because not everyone has traveled to Penang and eat it iconic food.


Besides, unlike the common packaging by Maggi which is always 5 x 75g, they adopted the same packaging as Mykuali to use only 4 x91g instead. You would notice it slightly larger in size but the quantity has been reduced to 4 packets only.


I do not know you guys appetite but I had cooked two packets in order to satisfy my hungry. In this case, I would think twice to have two packets because they has increased 20 grams than normal 75g per packet.

Generally, I would say Maggi does have greater taste. Previously, they rolled out the Maggi goreng flavor, one of the best could outperform any other Maggi goreng in Malaysia. Now, they took initiative to get people buying their new flavor which is Penang Seafood curry flavor I guess to compete and retains some market share in instant noodle business. It worth to mention that they seem to have upgraded its instant noodle quality. It called "Maggi Royale" What a blessing day indeed !!


You will regret if you did not try this. As for the price for one big packet contains 4, it sells over RM7 definitely. I bought it at RM 7.99. It has been launched several months ago now it reached to East Malaysia where I have enjoyed it myself.

Ramly introduced nationwide "Panggang" flavor burger meat. It does taste grilled one

Have you eaten Ramly beef or chicken ? I guess you have not try this "Panggang" flavor. I not a professional chef that the picture above proves of my cooking skill level. The left side it cooked and the right side is not. I was to compare the size of cooked Ramly burger meat Panggang and the one not cooked.


Ramly decided to increase 10g to 70g for each burger meat. It usually in 60g. What more, Ramly burger panggang version is in squarely form. Opposing to the chicken and beef flavor round form. There are some difference in price. This usually cost consumer RM8.00 - RM10.00, whereas, Ramly chicken and beef were put at lower price tag.




I wonder will Ramly ever manufacturing a burger fish meat. Although major population prefer beef and chicken but I think there were some segments like to order fish meat ?? Ramly burger is no 1 choice for Malaysian in homemade burger. Do it yourself or pay somebody to make burger for you !!

Choose to dine inside with air-conditioning or outside with cold breeze

Sitting outside is awesome choice enjoying the natural air and dim-light surrounding. Another advantage will be after you have finish dinner, take out lighter and light up the cigarette which is quite convenience. Whereas, sitting inside enable patrons enjoying air-condition and bright light surrounding.


Taste Two restaurant is one of the best hangout places. In weekend, a rare event of people waiting for vacant table does occur sometimes because there is a higher chance every tables are occupied. No one is seem leaving it table couple with the attraction of free Wi-Fi.


Around the area where Taste Two situated, there were not much restaurants could compete with Taste Two due to it strategic place. It easily spotted and placed at corner side. Everyone know that business opened at corner usually getting lot of attentions. If you cant find it you need to ask the driver go to the one-and-only Giant Tawau, Taste Two is just nearby there.









24味 or Taste Two Restaurant & Bar is rather confuse whether it is a non-halal or halal restaurant there were alcoholic drinks in the menu but it seem like they do not serve pork. If you are Muslim I guess you are welcomed as nothing will happen to you if you avoid ordering alcoholic drinks. You can always order hot coffee or Taste Two signature coffee.


The price of each food is above average expecting something above the kopitiam price. It typical fancy and service-orientated concept restaurant.

Battle of the french fries between McDonald's and KFC

Let get to the bottom of this. KFC introduced its french fries not while ago. What was their intentions doing that ? KFC french fries mixed with crispy black pepper ? Yeah, it definitely taste something else.


We know that since the beginning that McDonald's french fries is unrivaled. It seem like fast food restaurants in Malaysia is re-focusing on this food. I have not try burger king's new french fries which look ridiculously awesome. The texture is so fine. It so much taller !


Maybe I would put McDonald's, Burger King and KFC battle of french fries somewhere in the future. The left picture was captured eating at KFC restaurant. Get a little bit confused after watched the Lay's potato chip ads with Lionel Messi inside. They should not eat Lionel Messi's Lay potato chip. I guess it in their culture that everyone is free to take anyone food to eat as long as the owner did not show an angry face. There were so many people in the street recognizes Lionel Messi and want to take a picture with him.


Lay's potato chip barbecue flavor has been introduced since in the 1960s. Surprisingly, Lay emerged with Pepsi and form Pepsico. Besides, Lay company owned the popular doritos snack which even the goat is craze about the junk food. Just for your information, Frito-Lay is dominating US salty snacks the sales revenue of snack is nearly 35% of Pepsico valuation of estimated. Pepsico most profitable division belongs to Frito-Lay.

Personal experience after eating Frito-Lay made, made in USA potato chip, Judging by my years of eating Mister Potato's potato chips, there is little or no different between them. I ensure all Potato chip lover out there that this is just a different packaging. I thought USA made potato chip will have slightly bigger size of potato chip or different taste but it was not that case.


It was a good experience able to taste it with own tongue on this Lay's potato chip. The price is double purchasing Lay potato chip than a Mister potato. If you go to shop and purchase Mister potato in big long can, the potato chip is in complete shape. As for Lay's barbecue potato chip, it has different pattern of each potato chip you grab inside the package. (observe picture no 2 and compare with Mister Potato in long can)
